Influencer reporting · a Tribeez standard

Influencer Marketing Reporting That Proves What Worked

Most influencer reports stop at views and likes. Ours start there. Every Tribeez campaign is reported on the platform metrics that drive reach, plus the measures that show whether people actually remember, search for and choose your brand.

Metric glossary

What each influencer metric means (and what it tells the algorithm)

The platforms have been unusually open lately. Instagram's head has said the three signals that matter most for ranking are watch time, likes and sends, and that creators should watch average watch time, likes per reach and sends per reach. TikTok says no single metric matters most and that finishing a longer video is a strong signal of interest. YouTube says it is now ranking for viewer satisfaction, not just watch time.

MetricWhat it meansWhat it tells the algorithmWhat it tells you
ReachUnique accounts that saw the contentHow far distribution went; on Instagram, split into followers and non-followersWhether you got beyond the creator's existing fans
ImpressionsTotal times shown, incl. repeatsFrequency of deliveryRepetition, which helps memory, but can't be read alone
ViewsPlays or displays of a video/postVolume of distributionScale. Platforms count views differently, so compare like with like
Watch time / average watch timeTotal and average time spent watchingOne of Instagram's top three signals; TikTok uses watch time as a signal people enjoy the contentWhether the story held people long enough to land the brand
Completion / retentionShare of viewers who watch to the end, and where they dropTikTok: finishing a longer video is a strong interest signalWhere the edit loses people, and if the brand moment came too late
Hook rateShare of viewers still watching after the first ~3 seconds (an industry calculation, not a native platform metric)Early skips feed into watch time and skip predictionWhether the opening earned attention
SavesPeople bookmarking to come backTreated as an interest signal (TikTok names saves for Shop); Instagram has not confirmed a specific ranking weightIntent: useful, worth returning to. Strong for tutorials, recipes, routines
Shares / sendsSharing to DMs, stories or other appsInstagram: sends matter slightly more for reaching non-followersWord of mouth. People put their name on it
CommentsWritten responsesActive engagement on TikTok and LinkedIn; not in Instagram's named top threeRead them: questions, objections and the words people use become your next brief and search keywords
LikesQuick approvalInstagram: slightly more important for reaching existing followersLight approval. The weakest proof of business impact
Profile visitsTaps through to the creator or brand profileCuriosity about the accountInterest beyond the single post
FollowsNew followers gained from the contentInterest in more of the accountLasting audience, especially on brand handles
Link clicks / CTRTaps on links, stickers or CTAsAds: performance signal for deliveryTraffic and intent to act
Engagement rateEngagements divided by reach or viewsA mix of the signals aboveA health check. Research from System1, WPP Media and TikTok found engagement rate explains almost none of brand memory lift, so don't treat it as the goal
CPM / CPV / CPECost per 1,000 impressions, per view, per engagementAuction efficiency on paidValue for money, compared within platform and objective
Partnership AdsPaid ads run from the creator's handle with the brandDraws on signals from creator and brandMeta reports that adding partnership ads to business-as-usual campaigns lowers CPA by 19% and lifts CTR by 13% on average

LinkedIn: LinkedIn's engineering team says its feed predicts likes, comments, shares, clicks and long dwell time, and uses "skip" prediction to down-rank posts people scroll past.

Brand lift

Why every Tribeez influencer campaign includes a brand lift study

Views prove people saw it. Brand lift proves it changed something in their heads. We compare people exposed to our street interviews with real people (Tribe Talk) and creator content with an unexposed control group and measure:

  • Awareness and ad recall: do they remember the brand and the content?
  • Brand and message linkage: do they connect the message or tagline to your brand, not a competitor's?
  • Sentiment: do they feel better about the brand?
  • Consideration and purchase intent: are they more likely to choose you?

Why it matters: independent research keeps finding creators move memory. A 2025 Kantar meta-analysis for Google found creator partnership boosts on YouTube Shorts lifted ad recall by 7.4 points, consideration by 3.8 and purchase intent by 2.7 (US). System1, WPP Media and TikTok found creator ads deliver 23% more brand memory lift than brand ads on short form, and that 84% of purchases go to brands people were already leaning towards before they started looking.

Our results: for a beauty brand, ad recall more than doubled.

Demand and conversation

Share of Search and Share of Influence, before and after

Share of Search is your brand's searches as a share of all brand searches in your category. The IPA's effectiveness research found it tracks, and often leads, market share, in some categories by up to a year. We measure it before and after the campaign so you can see whether creators moved what people look for.

Share of Influence is your brand's share of creator conversation in your category. Measured before and after, it shows whether you now own more of the conversation than competitors.

People check you out in search before they buy. What they find depends on what people say about you. Answer the questions people search for.

The checklist

What to ask your influencer agency about reporting

  • Do you report watch time, retention and sends, or only views and likes?
  • Is reach split between followers and non-followers?
  • Do you run a brand lift study with a proper unexposed control group?
  • Do you measure message and tagline linkage, not just awareness?
  • Do you track Share of Search before and after?
  • Do you track Share of Influence against competitors?
  • Are Partnership Ads results reported separately from organic?
  • Do you read the comments and turn them into insight for the next brief?
  • Are CPM, CPV and CPE compared like for like by platform?
  • Will the report tell me what to do differently next time?
FAQ

Influencer reporting FAQ

  • A save means someone wants to come back to your content. It signals usefulness and intent. Instagram's head has named watch time, likes and sends as the top ranking signals, so treat saves as a strong quality signal rather than the main reach driver.

  • A send is sharing a post privately, usually by DM. Instagram says sends matter slightly more for reaching people who don't follow you yet.

  • A survey comparing people who saw your campaign with a matched group who didn't, to measure changes in recall, awareness, message linkage, sentiment and consideration.

  • Yes. Tribeez includes brand lift studies on every influencer campaign in South Africa.

  • Your brand's share of all branded searches in your category. It is tracked before and after a campaign to show changes in demand.

  • It's a useful health check, but research from System1, WPP Media and TikTok found it explains almost none of brand memory lift. Pair it with brand lift and search.

  • Watch time, retention and sends for reach; brand lift for memory and consideration; Share of Search for demand.
